The Meeting
I met Mickey Mitchell through one of my best friends back in April and was immediately struck by his vision for BIPRI and the passion he had for helping people achieve better brain performance. I could see immediately that he was building an integrated healthcare company unlike anything that I had ever seen.
Designed to service a massively growing market, the company would focus on providing a complete suite of products and services that provide all tools needed for a healthier brain. BIPRI will provide traditional clinical treatments, combined with a multi-faceted recovery and performance program, rooted in science, that would be wrapped in an education and community platform, designed to give hope to their clients.
The Match
By coincidence – Mickey indicated that the company was looking to hire a sales leader that understood healthcare technology delivery and could help develop the organization’s baseline testing services and its wellness coaching platform. He wanted someone that understood technical sales and had an education background with real word experience in health, wellness, and human performance. He wanted to find a person that was passionate about helping people achieve higher performance levels.
In a perfect world, this person would have had some athletic and coaching success and would be comfortable dealing with populations ranging from youth sports participants through elderly clients suffering from cognitive ailments.
I looked at my friend over lunch as Mickey described this need during our intro meeting, and I almost blushed. I had recently started an advisory services company with a partner after successfully leading sales for one of the top healthcare technology delivery organizations in the US. I have an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, a Master’s in Sports Science and Pedagogy, and enjoyed a lengthy career as a Division I Wrestling Coach and instructor in Health, Wellness, PE, Nutrition, and Exercise Physiology.
I had a successful collegiate and post-collegiate wrestling career, 11 professional MMA fights, and have been coaching youth sports and personal training for more than 20 years. I have always wanted to find a work opportunity that blended my diverse career experiences, and it appeared to both Mickey and I that God had connected us for a reason. So, after the quickest job interview and financial negotiation ever – here I am.
